As I have lived in Eastern Europe for 4 years with 2 of those years in the Ukraine I being completely biased by experience. My experience has been that it will be very difficult for you as you will find that her expectations of you and your support of her financially can bankrupt you. If you found yourself buying her lots of gifts there or she was someone who has temper tamptrums then you will find that this will carry onward in your relationship. It is very common as well in relationships is women will often lie and will never admit they lied even if they are caught red handed in their lies.
You may find yourself in a position of loving your wife or girlfriend but feel as you can never trust them. You also may have a feeling in your gut something is not right and spend so much effort to get to the bottom of it, but save yourself the time and go with your gut always and act quickly on it!
To quote one friend who has lived in the Ukraine for the last 10 years and is married to a Ukrainian. «Every women in this country is broken in the head» I chimed in «Except your lovely wife» he returns a comment «Especially her!»….
My suggest is that you spend more than a month together. As I found about the Ukraine is that everything may seem somewhat normal on the surface, but any time will show you «Is nothing is what it seems to be!»
As you have asked for advice on this subject and I give you my opinion on the subject from many years of dealing with Russian women. My suggestion is if you feel you are being played then most likely you are. Be ready to have a lot of extra BS in your relationship and perhaps a lack of trust.
I have asked a lot of women those Eastern Europe this question «Can you trust the women here?» they all respond with the same answer «No, most of them 70 to 80 percent just want one thing, money!» then they respond with «Except I am not like that». Seems strange to ask 100% of the women in these countries this question and they all answer the same way….. then of course exclude themselves from the results.

I’m an American who lived in UA for 2.5 yrs. where I met my Ukrainian wife. Bottom line: you need to spend more than a month w/ her in UA to answer your questions. There are a lot of cultural differences between US and UA and you need to know them all. Also, I’m assuming that you don’t speak Ukrainian or Russian. I hope she speaks English pretty well; if not, you guys are not truly communicating.
